Comparing Thursday is here again! Today, I will be trying two green teas and a black tea. Looking back, I thought these teas would taste good together because each blend had some floral ingredients in them. One way to find out!
Jasmine Jade
Description: “A perfumed green tea with a genuine creative temperament.
Review: Since the blend had the word ‘jasmine’ in the name, I was expected the blend to have a floral aroma, but it was actually mildly grassy. The aroma stayed fairly constant when wet and the leaves turned a pretty olive colour.
The yellow liquor left the mouth feeling a bit dry. There was a jasmine taste, with a mild grassy aftertaste. This was a nice simple green tea with a light floral taste (3/5 rating).

- Caffeine: Medium
- Ingredients: Green tea, dried jasmine buds

Mint Jubilee
Description: “Harmonious chorus of sweet and warm flavors; delicate on palate.”
Review: I haven’t had that many blends that had fennel in it, so I was happy that this had a pretty strong fennel aroma. However, the aroma turned slightly herbal and savoury after steeping, almost like basil or smoke.
Since the dry blend had such a strong smell, it made sense that the liquor also tasted like fennel. But, I found it overpowered the other flavours such as spearmint. The dark yellow liquor had a slightly savoury quality. I wish that the fennel wasn’t so strong (2/5 rating).
- Type: Green tea

- Caffeine: Medium
- Ingredients: Tea, spearmint, fennel, marigold

Lavender Spell
Description: “Because tranquillity can be found at the bottom of a tea cup.”
Review: For a black tea blend, I was surprised that the dry blend actually had a light grassy aroma. After steeping, the aroma was malty and grassy, but there was no lavender aroma. The leaves were fairly broken.
The orange-brown liquor actually had a very robust taste. It was malty tasting with some floral notes. But it didn’t taste like lavender to me. This was a nice malty black tea blend with a hint of floral (3/5 rating).
- Type: Black tea
- Origin: Unknown
- Caffeine: Medium
- Ingredients: Black tea, lavender, cornflower
- Company: TEABOX
Final Thoughts
I generally enjoy Teabox. I find most of the blends are nice and plateable. Next month, I will be trying some chai blends, and surprisingly, none of them had cinnamon, which is great because I have a sensitivity to it. Hope you enjoyed the review!
