T by Daniel Green and Herbal Tea Spoons

This isn’t the first time I had the opportunity to try T by Daniel! I came across the brand when someone on Facebook visited their shop and posted about it. I love supporting Canadian brands, so I reached out to buy sample sizes. Daniel and Renata (husband and wife team) made me the custom size teas I wanted.

I really enjoyed the teas I bought the first time, so, I went back for more! It was great to be able to meet Daniel in person at the Toronto Tea Festival! I bought six teas, therefore it will be split up into 2 blog posts. Today will be a green tea and two tisanes!

Let’s go!

P.S I love You

T by Daniel P.S I Love You Green Tea Dishes

Description: “This beautiful sencha will send your senses on a wild ride and give your body a nice boost of green tea powered energy.”

Review: This blend is a treat to look at and very cute since it has it has mini chocolate hearts! I think that this would be a cute tea to give to someone special (who likes tea). I expected the tea to smell very floral, but it actually smelled tropical as well! (I accidentally flipped the two dishes, so the top dish is the wet blend.)

The liquor was a dark yellowish-green and it had an oily film. However, when I drank it again I wasn’t able to find a single chocolate heart and there wasn’t a film. The aroma was of rich dark chocolate. I picked through the infused blend and tasted the chocolate heart. It was rich dark chocolate with some rose flavouring.

The first time I had this, it had a very strong perfumed rose taste. However, the second time, since I didn’t scoop up a chocolate heart, the floral flavour was much more subdued. However, I still found that it overpowered the other flavours. I personally enjoyed it a bit better without the chocolate heart.

This would be the perfect blend for someone who really enjoys roses and how they taste and smell (3.5/5 rating).

The Big Apple

T by Daniel The Big Apple Herbal Tea Dishes

Description: “This crazy concoction is a blend of dried apples and almondy nougat, for a taste that is as luxurious adventurous and exciting as the big city.”

Review: Since this tea looked interesting, I wanted to try it! It smelled delicious and it was sweet and nutty, just like the description mentioned. The liquor was very pale and slightly cloudy and had a bit of an oil film. It smelled nutty, like candies.

The liquor was thick and syrupy, and it was fairly sweet. It tasted like sugar water or corn water, but I wasn’t able to taste the apples. If you have a sweet tooth, this might be a fun one to try (3/5 rating).

Flu Who

T by Daniel Flu Who Herbal Tea Dishes

Description: “An unforgettably delicious lemon chai will bring a warm, relaxing warming sensation to your throat, and have you out of that flu in no time.”

Review: One thing I like about herbal blends is how pretty they are because it is easy to tell the different ingredients apart. The aroma wasn’t what I was expecting – it was spicy, but also sweet, and it smelled like coca-cola.

The tan-yellow liquor had a nice aroma, and I could pick out cinnamon, cardamoms, cloves and pink pepper. It reminded me of spiced cake or cinnamon hearts. It tasted like spiced cider or chai, and the dominant flavour was cinnamon. This was pretty different than some of the flu or sick teas I’ve had in the past. It was very bold and spicy!

I personally enjoy a cooling sensation when I’m sick, so I enjoy mint when I’m feeling under the weather. However, this might be good for the people with the mentality that spicy herbs are the way to go. Either way, I’m sure both work (3/5 rating).

  • Type: Herbal tea
  • Origin: Unknown
  • Caffeine: Caffeine-free
  • Ingredients: Cassia bits, lemongrass, coconut bits, pineapple bits, cardamom, ginger bits, pink pepper kernel, cloves, natural flavour
  • Company: T by Daniel

Final Thoughts

I’m happy that I was able to try these. I always like how T by Daniel subverts what I think is normal, and gives me something completely different! It is always a journey. The name of the teas is cute as well!  I’m excited to try my next 3 teas!

Do you enjoy spicy or cooling sensations when you’re feeling sick?
