Amoda Tea’s Genmaicha | Tea Review

Description: “Dark green slender sencha green tea leaves blended with roasted brown rice make a warming cup with fresh grassy flavour and nutty notes.” – via Amoda Monthly Box

Review: Genmaicha is a Japanese green tea that I really enjoy! Genmaicha is generally comprised of green tea and puffed rice. This specific blend is made of sencha and puffed rice. The packaging mentions that the tea can be re-steeped. The dry blend smells toasty and mildly of seaweed. Each steep is 1 minute long.

Steep 1: Pale yellow liquor, roasted nutty flavour and aroma. Very faint flavour.

Steep 2: The liquor is more of a yellowish-green. The flavour is much more intense and I am able to taste some mild grassiness with nice roasted nutty notes.

Steep 3: Very similar to Steep 1 with more nutty notes. It is very warm and comforting.

Overall, I enjoyed this tea! I have to admit I that have a fondness for Genmaicha and more roasted or nutty flavoured teas. I drank this a few times and enjoyed it each time! This had a nice mild roasted flavour (3.5/5 rating).
