During the wintertime, I can’t help but gravitate toward more wintery sounding blends. I also visited T by Daniel’s Brampton shop, and I wanted to give a quick recap of my experience!
I will admit, it has been a while since I have tasted a T by Daniel blend, and in the interim, I had the opportunity to visit the ‘new’ shop in Bramalea City Centre a few months back. I have known Daniel for a few years now, and I am always excited to try his blends!
I originally came across T by Daniel when I saw someone post about his teas. I reached out and asked if he sold teas in smaller sample sizes – 10 to 15 grams. He and his wife, Renata, were overly sweet and helped me package up the tea in the sizes I wanted.
Therefore, while it was a bit of a trip for me, I wanted to see the new shop and support them! The outside of the shop had a classic vibe which I liked with some tables to sit at on the side. There were also pictures of celebrities and famous people who had tried their teas, such as Prince Charles!
When I got inside, the staff asked me if I had visited before. When I said no, to my surprise both of them gave a little twirl and welcomed me! I was also given a mini chocolate bar. What a lovely welcome!
The staff, Sabrina and Kyra, were more than enthusiastic and answered all my questions and provided useful recommendations. I walked away with some new tea blends, a latte, and some macaroons. I really enjoyed my stay, and the staff made the whole experience (4/5 rating).
Now that shop recap is done, let’s taste the tea!
Description: “There’s nothing more refreshing than a snowcone. It’s chilly goodness, perfect shape and icy texture reminds you of childhood fun.”
Instructions: Steep for 1-2 Minutes in 100° water
Review: Another thing I need to admit is I’m not the biggest fan of snowcones. But, with this name, how could I resist? When I opened the bag, I was hit with the instantly recognizable scent of peaches and a lingering floralness. It reminded me a bit of Candied Peaches.
I loved how twisted and curled the leaves, were which contrasted with the bright yellow petals. After infusion, the leaves became an olive green, and I wasn’t able to smell the peach as much in either the wet leaves or the liquor. The liquor was a very light hay yellow and I could see a few tea hairs.
The flavour was also very faint while hot, so I let the liquor cool down. Once cooled, the flavour started off sweet and slowly built up to a subtle peach flavour. I mentioned earlier that the dry leaves reminded me of Candied Peaches, and it was the same with the liquor in taste. I did find it a bit drying at the back of the throat.
This would be a nice tea for someone who enjoys white teas with a delicate flavouring. I have had peach teas in the past that were rather overwhelming. While I had hoped for more ginger or a ginger kick, I think that that would have ruined the subtleness of the blend. While I may not be the biggest snowcone fan, I did enjoy this warm equivalent (3/5 rating).
