Fox Tea Club Chocolate Tea spoon

I’ve had my fair share of chocolate flavour teas, but I am always up for more!

Description: “Creamy chocolate flavors of cocoa beans and caramel complement the rich Indian black tea.”

Instructions: 1-1½ tsp. tea | 16 oz. 205°F water | 3 min | 2 steeps

Review: Fox Tea Club originally reached out to me a while back. I liked the branding, and I am always happy to try smaller brands. You never know what you might find! I asked them to send me some of their top blends and this was one of them.

When I opened the package of the blend, I was able to see dark brown leaves with a sprinkling of small sugared snowflakes, cocoa bean pieces, and dark red goji berries. It had a great warm and earthy, chocolate smell.

The liquor was a dark amber colour with red undertones after steeping. Both the wet blend and the liquor had earthier notes and actually reminded me more of coffee or mocha. As I sipped on the hot liquor, there was a nice chocolate smell that wafted into my nose as I lifted the cup up to my mouth. It tasted like chocolate but there was some mild bitterness and lingering earthy notes with a hint of sweetness.

I normally have a habit of letting blends cool so the flavours have more time to meld together. However, I found that with this blend, that only brought out more astringency at the start of the sip, making it taste more like bitter chocolate.

Also, note that the ratios for this tea are 1.5 teaspoons to 16 oz of water. Overall, I liked that this one actually had a good “chocolate taste.” I would suggest drinking this warm for people who enjoy a sweeter blend or letting it cool for more bitterness. This also might be good as a latte (3.5/5 rating).
