Over the last few years, all the teas I’ve tasted from Nepal have been amazing! So, when I saw this tea at the store, I knew I had to pick it up right away!

Review: Many years ago, when I first started getting into tea, I remember picking up DAVIDsTEA’s Nepal Green. I enjoyed the tea quite a bit and from there it started my love of Nepalese teas. Therefore, when I saw this in the shop, I knew I had to try it as well!
This tea comes from a family-owned tea garden, Jun Chiyabari, in Nepal. This farm has created community programs that assist with the local schools, underprivileged families and, the elderly. I always love it when a farm or cooperative gives back to the local community.
Now on to the tea, based on smell alone, I already was excited. The dry leaves were dark brown, almost black and twisted with a few golden tips. It had a lovely warm smell that reminded me of baked bread, cinnamon, and spices. After a 4 minute infusion, what remained were long chocolate brown leaves had mostly unfurled. The wet leaves smelled like the dry leaves, but sweeter, maltier, chocolatey, and fruity.
The liquor was a golden yellow and had a bready and fruity sweet aroma to it. The liquor itself actually had a slightly smokey taste which I did not expect. But that was quickly replaced with more sweet, fruit, honey, and bread notes intermixed with some earthy. When cooled, the liquor was more bread-like and sweet. The liquor left the mouth slightly dry but it quickly disappeared. Overall, I enjoyed everything about this tea: from how it smelled, tasted, and even that little hint of smokiness! I would suggest this for people to enjoy a malty/bread-like quality (4.5/5 rating).
