A while back, I made an order with Kitten and the Bear and I noticed their extensive tea selection and purchased some! I gravitated toward this tisane because I like chamomile at night time.
Description: “A calming blend of chamomile, lavender, mullein flower and mint to help soothe your way toward a blissful night of sleep. Make this gentle tisane part of your evening routine.“ – Kitten and the Bear
Instructions: 1 tsp | 8 oz water | 195°F | 5 minutes OR 16 oz of water | 203°F | 5 minutes
Review: As someone who is caffeine sensitive, I’ve started to purchase more herbal teas, so I have something to drink before bedtime. I personally find chamomile soothing and relaxing, in smell and taste, so I tend to buy it when I see it.
The dry blend was a pretty mixture of chamomile flowers and lavender buds with a dominating chamomile smell. Once the water hit the dry tisane, there was a sweet smell of chamomile and floral lavender notes wafting in the air.
After 5 minutes, the liquor became a golden yellow colour with little small pieces of chamomile petals floating at the top. The taste was predominantly the honey sweetness of the chamomile and the floralness of lavender. The mint provided a cooling sensation at the back of the throat. The end of the sip was slightly bitter and drying. When cooled, the liquor was more mellow, and the sweetness of the chamomile melded with the lavender and mint. The wet leaves had a chamomile and herbaceous smell.
Since the blend is made up of mostly chamomile and lavender, the taste of the blend reflected that honey, floral, and herbal quality. This tisane would be nice to have while reading a book before bedtime or if you are looking for a relaxing sip to unwind (3/5 rating).
