Bird & Blend Tea Co.’s Peach Cobbler | Tea Review

As someone who has a sweet tooth, I couldn’t say no to this dessert black tea blend! Peaches isn’t an ingredient I tend to see a lot, so I wanted to try it out.

Description: “This blend tastes like a classic cobbler pastry straight from the oven… warm, gooey, sweet with that delightful golden-brown crust.”

Instructions: 1 heaped teaspoon per cup | 100° | 4 mins | with or without milk

Review: I initially noticed this blend because it was tagged as the quarterly ChariTEA. This quarter (January to March), all profits will go to “Something To Look Forward To,” which Bird and Blend describe as a “family founded cancer charity providing gifts and experiences to people affected by cancer and their families.”

The dry blend was a stark contrast in colour between the bright pops of yellow from the freeze-dried peaches and pinkish-yellow cornflower petals against the dark brown, almost black, tea leaves. The blend had an inviting peach, vanilla, caramel, and malty smell.

After 4 minutes, the liquor was a golden amber colour with a strong peach aroma. The blend had a dominating sweet peach taste, followed by vanilla, caramel, baked bread and a creamy texture. The peaches tasted authentic and not artificial.

After cooling, the peach flavour remained with the creamy and bready/pastry notes. The sip ended in briskness with some dryness on the tongue and the back of the throat. The wet broken brown leaves smelled like liquor and had a prominently peach smell followed by some earthy notes.

Based on the recommendations, I tried this blend on separate occasions with peat and oat milk. I found the addition of non-dairy milk highlighted and elevated the sweet taste and creamy texture of the blend. Since peat milk has a slightly nutty quality, it was an added bonus.

Overall, aside from the profits going to a good cause, the tea was also a good afternoon treat. It isn’t overly sweet and has a good amount of peachy flavours. I personally liked it better with a splash of milk since it added to the creamy consistency and highlighted the sweet fruity notes. The blend was easy to drink, and time and time again, I finished half the cup before I even noticed! I would recommend this blend to people who like peaches, dessert blends, or teas that aren’t cloyingly sweet (3.5/5 rating).
