I tend to prefer a classic strong black tea in the morning to wake me up. However, every so often, it is nice to have something a bit more special!
Description: “The only tea in the world flavored with rose petals and apples from the King’s Kitchen Gardens (Le Potager du Roi Versailles).”
Instructions: 1 teaspoon | 203°F | 3 mintues
Review: While I have been fortunate enough to visit France, I did not go to Versailles. So, when I saw that this tea blend had rose petals and apples from the garden there, it seemed like it would be the closest I would get to the Palace any time soon! The dry blend was mostly made of black tea with a scattering of rose petals and a very perfumed rose smell that reminded me of potpourri.
When infusing the blend, the liquor imparted a strongn apple and rose smell. After the 3 minute infusions, the water had gradually become a deep cooper brown colour. The first notes were sweet juicy apples, a bouquet of roses and then spiced woody notes with a hint of briskness. The fruity and floral taste cycled back and left a nice finish mouth. The taste reached every part of the mouth and was drying at the back of the mouth. When cooled, the character of the liquor was more woody with the underlying sweet apple and perfumed floral notes and dryness on the tongue.
The wet brown leaves were broken and the wet blend had a strong apple and earthy smell.
Every so often, you get a tea which is described exactly how it is on the tin, and this is that tea blend. The dominating notes are apples and roses, which are the two main ingredents. The flavours are forward and pair well and add a hint of something more to a classic black tea. If you enjoy roses or apples, this is the blend for you. I personally found this made a lovely sip during afternoon tea with some cookies and sweets (3.5/5 rating).
