The Monarch Tea Co.’s Madeleine Cookie | Tea Review

Review: I am a suckered for baked goods, so why not try a tea blend inspired by them? I haven’t had a madeleine cookie before, and if I have, I don’t remember it. From what I gather, they should taste like sponge cake and have lemon zest or ground nuts. Nothing about that sounds bad to me!

When I opened the package, I encountered a great, warm, comforting smell of spices and flowers. It was yummy and festive. The blend was had dark tea leaves with almond slices, orange peels, and petals. The almond aroma was most pronounced in the wet blend. The liquor smelled sweet, cocoa-y, and floral.

The first favours I tasted when sipping were earthy and floral. I didn’t really get any baked goods or chocolate notes. I’m not too sure how I feel about the aftertaste which was the almond and rose petal flavours melding together.

While I went in expecting baked goods, this may have been more representative of a tea party? That would make sense with the roses. The blend smelled great and might be for someone who enjoys earthy, floral and nutty tastes combined (2.5/5 rating).
