CitizenTea’s Mateccino | Tea Review

Despite having a tea blog, I do like coffee sometimes in the morning! So, when I saw this and smelled it, it really seemed like the best of both worlds.

Description: “Toasted mate and rooibos after a deep, robust flavour.”

Review: I loved the name of the blend “Mateccino” which seemed like a great combo. The dry and wet blend lived up to its namesake – sweet, milky and coffee-like. However, the liquor itself was more earthy and roasted.

Tastewise, the liquor was quite roasted, like how it smelled. It was earthy with a hint of cocoa sweetness at the tail end. While I always enjoy coffee alternatives, I do admit to enjoying the coffee taste and this one tasted too much of the mate. It was not necessarily a bad thing, but it was just wasn’t what I was hoping for (3/5 rating).
