How to Make a Matcha Latte at Home | Tea Recipe

A few of my friends’ go-to drink is a matcha latte, which made me crave it too! So, I whisked up a quick recipe to make at home!

I wanted something quick and simple, with only a few ingredients and only takes a few minutes to make! All of the equipment you should already have at home. This recipe has 3 ingredients (4 if you want additional sweetener) and makes an 8 oz matcha latte.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon latte grade matcha (with a little extra to decorate)
  • 2 oz water
  • 6 oz milk (I used almond milk and oat milk)
  • Sweetener of choice, optional

(Adapted from Amoda Tea)

Equipment:

  • 8 oz cup
  • Teaspoon
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Saucepan or milk frother
  • Kettle or electric kettle
  • Matcha whisk, electric hand frother or a spoon/fork

Recipe:

  1. Heat milk over stove top (or in milk frother) and warm up water to 75°C (170°F)
  2. Sift matcha with a fine mesh strainer into a cup to remove clumps
  3. Add water to the cup
  4. Whisk in ‘m’ motion or use an electric hand frother
  5. Add milk (or plant-based milk) to the cup
  6. Add ice if serving cold
  7. Use leftover matcha in the fine mesh strainer to dust the top of the latte
  8. Serve!

I made a short on Youtube on making the latte. Check it out!

In this post, I used the latte bundle from Amoda Tea x Common Goods Pottery’s which included Japanese matcha and a dimple cup. Next week I will be reviewing the bundle. So, look out for that!
