Beach House Tes Emerald City Herbal Black Tea Spoon

Description: “Cooling and refreshing peppermint, sweet spearmint, citrus, hints of malty assam. Shiso leaf has an anise-like flavour that blends perfectly with the mint.” – via Amoda Monthly Box

Review: One of the first things that I noticed about this tea is that the steeping recommendation is cold brewing in the fridge for 2 – 4 hours. I have only tried cold brewing a few times, and so, far I’ve really enjoyed it, especially now that the weather is warm! I ended up letting this sit in the fridge for a bit over 4 hours.

The dry blend was made out of small little pieces of black tea, shiso leaf, peppermint, and spearmint, with the occasional lemon peel. The blend smelled mostly minty, which continued after steeping.

I found the aroma of the cold brew very refreshing. There was a strong minty note which became earthy and sweet. The minty flavour lingered in the mouth and had a slightly drying mouthfeel.

I found that when I drank the liquor right from the fridge, despite it being very refreshing, the cold temperature muted the flavours. Letting it warm up a bit helped. In the future, I would add a bit more tea to strengthen the taste (3/5 rating).
