I’ve know for a while that there is a tea farm in Hawaii, USA, so I was pretty excited when they reached out and offered to send me some teas!

Description: “Rare tender tips, hand picked and pan-fired for delicate fresh flavor.”

Instructions: 2-3 grams | 8oz | 180°F OR 190°F for more bitterness and high aromatic note | spring water | 2 minutes, followed by shorter infusion

Review: The dark forest green leaves were long and wiry with some lighter tips. It had a floral and vegetal smell. Since the tea was pan fried, the leaves reminded me of the tea I made in Las Vegas.

Since the recommendations suggested both 2 or 3 grams tea, I tried both but I found to have the tea have some good amount of flavour the second infusion, 3 grams was required.

Infusion 1 (2 minutes): After steeping for 2 minutes, the leaves were an olive green colour and there were pale buds and brown steam. The liquor was a pale yellow colour and little specs at the bottom of the cup. It had a fresh, vegetal, umami taste with an underlying roasted note at the end of the sip. The liquor was nuttier when cooled.

Infusion 2 (30 seconds): The second infusion a highlighter yellow colour. It was mostly nutty and when cooled, there was a hint of dryness in the back of the mouth.

Overall, I found this tea refreshing and had a nice mixture of vegetal, umami and nutty. When I was looking at the website, there seems to be more green teas and some blends that look interesting as well. It is always interesting to see how different parts of the world produce tea (3/5 rating).
