Since it is Valentine’s week, this floral-forward blend seemed like a great way to share flowers with everyone!

Instructions: Mug – 5g | Boiling water| about three minutes
Review: While I do not subscribe to the health and wellness claims of Chinese medicine, I can not deny that the taste and smell are nostalgic to me. So, whenever I see blends that are inspired by it, it generally piques my interest. The dry blend was a pretty mixture of various flower petals and buds and smelled botanical and floral like a greenhouse. Once the boiling water hit the dry blend, there was a perfumed smell of roses and flowers that filled the air which dissipated. The liquor was a golden colour with suspended particles making it cloudy.
At first, the sip was herbaceous and had hay notes like white tea. However, as the blend was comprised primarily of flowers, including roses, chrysanthemums, marigolds, and cornflowers, so the taste gradually became floral. At the end of the sip, the goji berries and chrysanthemums added a natural sweetness to the liquor. The liquor left a faint trace of bitterness at the back of the mouth. The wet blend smelled medicinal, herbous and floral.
Overall, this blend rings true to what I think of when I think of Chinese soups and tonics I would drink as a child. However, I had hoped with all the flowers, the liquor would be more floral or sweeter due to the goji berries. For anyone who enjoys herbaceous/medicinal-tasting or floral blends, this may be nice to try out (3/5 rating).
