Nepali Tea Traders’ Nepalese Silver Tips White Tea and Himalayan Golden Black Tea | Tea Review

Nepali Tea Traders White Tea Black Tea Two Spoons

The original intention for this review was to taste a white, green, and black tea from Nepali Tea Traders. However, I received the same green tea, Emerald Spring, in my Amoda Tea monthly box, so I gave it its own review.

While reading the ‘Our Story’ page of Nepali Tea Traders, I was touched by how they found inspiration from the Nepales people. They write: “We want Nepal to gain the recognition it deserves as a world-class origin for tea. As we share these exquisite teas with the world, we are committed to paying fair prices and helping build a sustainable tea economy that can improve quality of life.”

Nepali Tea Traders is a brand I’ve tried a few times now, and there hasn’t been a tea from them that I didn’t like. So, let’s get into the tasting!

Nepalese Silver Tips White Tea

Description: “The tea’s mouthfeel is smooth and silky, devoid of astringency.”

Review: One type of tea leaves I will always enjoy looking at are white tea leaves. I find it so fascinating that the leaves are fuzzy! These leaves were equally fuzzy and had a sweet floral and hay fragrance.

Of all the white teas I’ve tasted recently, this was the most subtle, but in a very pleasant way. It did not taste watered down and had a nice sweet hay flavour that developed in the mouth as time went on. I think this is a good example of a clean tasting white tea with no astringency (3/5 rating).

Himalayan Golden Black Tea

Description: “The golden red soil of Sandakphu drinks in this moisture, producing a rare artisan tea that reflects all of nature’s goodness.”

Review: I will admit off the bat that I am a sucker for malty tasting teas. When I opened the package for this, I was already excited when I got a large whiff of rich malty notes from the curly leaves.

The wet leaves had an even stronger malt flavour. I steeped this tea both at three and four minutes. The reddish copper liquor was very smooth and had rich malty cocoa notes. I think the extra minute brought out a bit more astringency so, I preferred the three-minute steep. This is definitely a tea I would reach for again (4/5 rating).

  • Type: Black tea
  • Origin: Nepal
  • Caffeine: Medium to high
  • Ingredients: Black tea
  • Other: Best Black tea in 2015 North American Tea Championship
  • Company: Nepali Tea Traders

Final Thoughts

As you can imagine, I really enjoyed the teas that I tried, especially the black tea. Nepali Tea Traders are a brand I would love to try more of!
