Tealish Fine Teas’ Patisserie | Tea Review

This blend had a lovely smell in the store, so I knew I had to take it home with me!

Description: Exquisite, sweet nut flavours from almond and pistachio pieces are balanced with spice notes from peppercorns, cumin and coriander.”

Instructions: 1 teaspoon per 6-8 oz cup | Boiling water | Steep 2-5 minutes

Review: The dry blend had a really interesting smell – it was a bit cocoa and fruity, with a strong nuttiness and a whiff of peppercorn at the end. I could make out various ingredients in the dry blend: long almond pieces, full pistachios, coriander and cumin in contrast with a nice pop of bright red from the peppercorn. After steeping for 2 minutes, the wet blend had a sweet, fruity, and peppercorn note.

The dark reddish-brown liquor initially smelled of peppercorn then gradually became nuttier. I found it hard to pin down the taste, but I could pick out the coriander and cumin and also spice from the peppercorns with an underlying nuttiness. Once cooled, the liquor was mostly nutty with a hint of astringency at the end of the sip.

I tried to steep this blend originally at 3 and 4 minutes and found the flavours unpleasant as everything blended together. Two minutes let all the flavours have a chance in the spotlight. This would be nice as an afternoon pick-me-up (3/5 rating).
